Nepal, the trekker's paradise, is home to eight of the fourteen highest peaks in the world, including the tallest - Mount Everest. With some of the best trekking trails in the world, the Himalayas in Nepal draws thousands of trekkers every year. The magnificent mountains in Nepal host great hiking and trekking trails for everyone, be it a novice trekker or an experienced trekker.
Since the 1960s, Nepal has introduced itself as the land of the Himalayas and a trekkers' paradise. Trekking in Nepal is undoubtedly the most popular and unique activity in Nepal. Unique in the sense that nowhere else can you trek for days and embrace the beauty of some of the highest mountains in the world. Trekking to Nepal has been a dream of every trekker, mountain-lovers, and adventurer alike.
The rugged trails to the mountains, especially Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang, offer breathtaking mountain scenery and a lifetime experience. Apart from Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang trekking regions, there are other regions as well that boast popular trekking trails. Ranging from an easy hike to challenging treks or short to long trekking, the Himalayas in Nepal offers what we call a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You also can hike to the outskirt of Kathmandu for a day, head to the mountains to indulge in the weeks-long trek, or embrace the mountain with the luxury of a helicopter tour.
The most popular treks in Nepal include Everest Base Camp Trek, Gokyo Valley Trek, Langtang Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. If you want to walk through a challenging trail, then you are better off trekking through 'Everest Base Camp trek via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass, Everest High Pass Trek, Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, or Manaslu trek.
If you are a first-timer trekking in Nepal, then the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek or the Langtang Valley Trek is best suited for you. From the perspective of the short trek or weeks-long trek, you can choose from a wide range of treks. Ghandruk Trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, and Annapurna Base Camp Trek are among the short treks in Nepal. Similarly, Kanchenjunga Trek, Upper Dolpa Trek, The Three Passes Trek, Makalu Base Camp Trek, Manaslu Circuit, and Nar Phu Valley Trek fall under long treks in Nepal.
The hills around Kathmandu and Pokhara serve as ideal destinations for short day hikes. Suppose you are in either of these cities and are looking for a hiking adventure. In that case, you can try hiking around Nagarkot or Champa Devi in Kathmandu and Naudanda Sarangkot Hike in Pokhara.
Regardless of the weather, trekking can be done throughout the year in Nepal. However, the best trekking seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). Rainy or monsoon season is known as 'off-season' as the trails are dangerous due to rain. Trekking and hiking in Nepal are fun and full of adventure. There is something for everybody, be it long adventurous treks or short easy hikes, which are equally rewarding.
As a good rule of thumb, the best time to head to the mountain is during spring and autumn. The foothills of Annapurna and Everest are the best explored during these seasons. While almost every trekker schedules their treks for spring or autumn, you can embark on a journey in the rainy season as well. Upper Mustang trek, Upper Dolpo, Dolpo to Mustang Trek, Nar Phu Valley, Lower Mustang, and a few other trek destinations are deemed the best treks for the rainy season. These regions are protected by Himalayan rain shadow.
If you wish to trek in Winter (December to February), there are winter treks in Nepal like Annapurna Panorama Trek, Everest View Trek, Pikey Peak Trek, Tengboche Monastery Trek, Khopra Danda Trek, Helambu Trek and many more can do in the lower altitudes.

I am Werner Berger and my "claim to fame" is probably best defined as being in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person in the world to have climbed the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, including Mt. Everest.
Little did I know my life was to change forever on my first trek into the Himalaya in 1992 at age 55. It was the beginning and just a matter time before I realized I could combine my leadership and climbing skills to create a program in which people could explore their own possibilities.
So, in 2010, I began leading Transformational Life Experiences, treks to Mt. Everest Base Camp and other high places.
One of the earliest keys to success is to find a company with the right mix of professionalism, support, and, of course, experience. I have used Naba Amgai and his teams on all my Nepal trekking adventures.
Naba's caring and climber support, is second to none. In my estimation, Third Rock Adventures is one of the very best in the business, in or outside of Nepal. They know the mountains. So you can relax, enjoy and transform.
