Ama Yangri Trek is a recently-opened trekking trail in the immediate vicinity of Kathmandu. Located in the Helambu region of Sindhupalchowk district, Ama Yangri peak is a hidden gem and among the best treks near Kathmandu valley. At the altitude of 3771m, Ama Yangri is one of the highest peaks around Kathmandu Valley. You can admire the stunning view of Langtang Range, the Annapurna, Manaslu, and even Everest from the peak. And for this very reason, Ama Yangri Trek can be compared to the Poon hill trek of the Annapurna region. Legend has it that Ama Yangri is considered to be a deity who protects the entire Hyolmo valley region.

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu Airport, a Third Rock Adventures representative will pick you up and escort you to your hotel in Thamel. After relaxing and refreshing, get your documents ready and stroll around the Thamel area in the evening. You can buy or hire missing gears and equipment for the trek in the Thamel area. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Ama Yangri Peak
After having a delicious breakfast, you will drive to Timbu. Kathmandu is only 60 Km away from Timbu and it takes around 3 hours via Helamchi Helambu Road to reach Timbu by private vehicle. Upon reaching Timbu, you will prepare for the next day, and in leisure, you can explore the village. Overnight in Timbu.
Early in the morning, you will have a light breakfast and march towards Tarke Gyang, a beautiful village settlement in the Helambu region. The trail meanders through a lush forest and rewards eye-pleasing views of the hills and sparse village settlements. After trekking for 4-5 hours, you will reach Tarke Gyang. It is a beautiful Buddhist village, also called the gateway to Ama Yangri Peak. Overnight in Tarke Gyang.

After spending quality time in the unspoilt valley of Tarke Gyang, today you will ascend to Ama Yangri Peak. It takes about 4 hours to climb Ama Yangri Peak from Tarke Gyang. The trail leads through quite forests and slowly rises to the peak that unveils the incredible views of the Helambu regions and towering snow-clad peaks. There are no tea houses along the route, so it is better to carry some food and enough water. After admiring the view it has to offer, you’ll slowly descend to Tarke Gyang. Overnight in Tarke Gyang.
On the fifth day, you will head to Sermanthang. Today is the final leg of this amazing trek. The trail is comparatively easier than the previous days. The forested trail, chortens, cascading waterfalls and lush forest takes you to a small village called Gangyul. From Gangyul slowly descends through forests to Sermanthang. Overnight in Sermanthang.
Finally, you will drive back to Kathmandu. It takes a few hours from Sermanthang to reach Kathmandu on private vehicle. We will drop you off at your hotel. You can rest and do souvenir shopping. In your leisure, you can stroll around Thamel neighbor and explore the local pubs and restaurants. Overnight in Kathmandu.
One of the team members will take you to the international airport, three hours prior to the scheduled departure. Today you will leave Nepal with beautiful memories and wonderful experiences. Bid farewell to the team and head to your beautiful country.
