Your flight will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. While landing in the beautiful country of Nepal, you will get a glimpse of the adventures waiting for you. You will see yourself surrounded by scenic views of hills and distant mountains. Meet our Third Rock Adventures representative, who will direct you to your hotel in the city's tourist hub, Thamel, located just 5km away from the airport.
After this, you can either get rest for your upcoming trip or opt to explore the cultural hub of Kathmandu. Visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square adorned with its ancient scriptures and artifacts; you can visit the Shah dynasty museum or even the Swayambhunath stupa located atop a hill west of the city. After enjoying the day, the team will share the details for the upcoming trip while enjoying authentic Nepali dishes in welcome dinner.

Early in the morning, you will be woken up with some delicious, fulfilling breakfast. On this day, you will be taking a flight to Lukla, the northeast of Kathmandu, in the Khumbu region. This 35 minutes flight will offer a fantastic view of the topography below, initially the high hills, winding valleys, gushing rivers, and later the tallest mountains in the world. After landing at Lukla's Tenzing Hillary Airport, you will proceed with your trek to Phakding village.
Passing through snowy and rugged terrain will be a new experience to many. You will pass through a Sherpa village called Chaurikharka. Walk alongside the Dudh Koshi River to come across an unclimbed peak named Khumbila. The locals worship this sacred peak. After crossing the stone-paved path, you will reach Phakding village.
Phakding is inhabited mainly by Sherpas and decorated with prayer flags, and the smell of authentic food and hot butter tea will fill the air. Unpack in one of the tea houses, then take a stroll around the village. You can interact with the warm and friendly locals with the assistance of your guide. In the evening you can prepare for tomorrow.

On this pleasant day, you will be heading towards Namche Bazaar. You will begin the trek by taking a steady and steep inclination. From there, cross the Dudh Koshi River via a suspension bridge. Following a thick pine and rhododendron-clad forest trail, head to the village of Monjo. Further ahead, cross the very famous Hillary Suspension Bridge, which is decorated with prayer flags. You will then reach the Monjo checkpoint, the entrance gate to the Sagarmatha National Park area. Your guide will get all the documents and essentials ready and show them at the checkpoint.
Finally, the first view of Mt. Everest will come into display. To have a closer look, you will further reach Jorsale village. Here you stop for a lunch break while enjoying the sights of pine tree plantations, honeycombs, and Everest views. After having lunch, continue your climb to the hilltop of Tope Danda that offers views of the Namche settlement below. Follow the trailhead to Namche Bazaar, which is the liveliest town in the Khumbu region.
Namche, a tourist hub, is the major meeting point for trekkers and mountaineers for their Everest treks and expeditions. Hence, it is lit up in the evening and offers an array of essential to standard facilities like ATMs, bakery, coffee shops, and clothing stores. Also, the commercial hub of the region, the Saturday market, offers an exciting opportunity to interact with the locals who come from different villages and towns. It sees a turnout of both the Tibetan Yak caravans and Hindu traders selling their products. You could buy some souvenirs and supplies. If time permits, then head to Namche Monastery to understand the ancient Sherpa heritage. Furthermore, visit the Khunde Hospital set up by Sir Edmund Hillary and enjoy Kongde Ri's views (6,187m).

It is a special day as you will be heading to the renowned Hotel Everest View. After having breakfast at Namche Bazaar, you will pack up your belongings then take a short hike up to a ridge in Syangboche village. Getting to Hotel Everest View is very easy, with only a few climbs, twists, and turns.
Hotel Everest View is situated on the ridge of Syangboche, overlooking the marvelous views of high standing mountains at an altitude of 3,880m. It was constructed by a Japanese architect with the assistance of locals and was opened to tourists back in 1971. It is to date admired for its simplistic beauty and dreamy location. In 2004 the hotel was listed on the Guinness Book of World Records for being the Highest Placed Hotel in the world.
The hotel itself is a marvelous construction with furniture made out of wood, the walls made of stone, and the dining room has a huge boulder that has been left as it is with a Buddhist inscription scribed down. The vast vicinity offers a 360-degree view of surrounding mountains which is indescribable. What makes the place so special is that you get to experience utter luxury while enjoying up-close views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse (8,516m/27,940ft), Nuptse (7,861m/25,791ft), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812m/22,349ft) , Thamserku (6,608m/21,680ft), and Tabuche (6,495m/21,309ft). Enjoy the wide range of cuisines from continental to Japanese and authentic Sherpa meals as well.
You can also opt to visit the Khumjung monastery in the afternoon. It is located in Khumjung village, which is only a short walking distance from Hotel Everest View. The monastery gives you an insight into the ancient artifacts, scriptures, and Sherpa culture. Most notable in the monastery is certainly the purported scalp of Yeti sitting in a box. After enjoying a luxury-filled day in Hotel Everest View, you will be heading back to Monjo. Bid goodbye to the astonishing views of the high-standing mountains as you take a downhill descent to the Dudh Koshi River valley. You will head back to Namche Bazaar from Jorsale village.
After having your lunch, move further south through the thick green forest. You might witness the rare Impeyan Pheasant cooing in the high boulders or trees. Trekkers have come across Musk Deers, Himalayan Thar, and Snowcocks along the trail filled with Himalayan Birch, Rhododendron, and Juniper trees. After a short while, you will reach Monjo.
You can choose from numerous tea houses in Monjo village. The tea houses are typically made of stones and have a communal dining room where you can interact with fellow trekkers and locals over a warm dinner.

After enjoying breakfast at Monjo, you will make your way to Lukla, following the Dudh Koshi river. Take a short descend towards Benkar, then head to Phakding, passing a suspension bridge. Then take an ascend to Ghat village inhabited by Buddhist settlers. From there, you will reach another settlement called Chablung. After passing these small settlements and walking through a forested trail, you will reach Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate in Lukla.
Head further down and get settled at one of the tea houses. The streets are filled with souvenir shops so take a stroll in the evening. You can interact with the locals and listen to their fascinating stories. At night enjoy some folk music, authentic meal, and locally brewed drinks with your team and the locals.

Sadly the day to bid farewell to the mystical Khumbu region has come. After having breakfast at Lukla, you will pack up your belongings and head to the Tenzing Hillary airstrip for a flight back to Kathmandu. The flight is reminiscent of the wonderful views seen earlier on the trek. As the white mountains become distant, the green valleys and city lights come to a closer view.
Upon landing at the domestic airport in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel in Thamel. After taking some rest there, you can opt to head out to the streets and enjoy the night market. Lively and lit, the streets of Thamel will offer an enjoyable departing night. You can go to a local pub or restaurant to enjoy drinks and meals. You can also collect some pashmina shawls, Dhaka caps, Thangka paintings, and more to take back home as souvenirs.
