Dear Nana and Third Rock Adventures, As a climber and trek leader with 30+ years experience, I highly recommend Naba Amgai and Third Rock Adventures as the go-to organization for all your sightseeing and trekking needs in South East Asia. This company is first class in every sense - amen! From great organization and helpful planning, to knowledgeable, caring guides providing the ultimate in support, everyone on our team rated them as excellent!
Many thanks for arranging this and allowing me to be a part of the Berger family adventure. Here is my testimonial for Third Rock Adventures: The Third Rock team provided us with a group of experienced guides and porters that did everything in their power to make our trekking experience fantastic. Our team including Shieva, Rishi, Mhek Raj and Sujan worked very hard while we were on trail to ensure every guest was secure. They were very patient with our pace and if needed would take on the extra weight of a day pack or two to lighten the load. I constantly felt someone’s eyes on me watching to ensure I had the strength to climb a particular section or even to provide if more water. They were there to ensure everyone succeeded in completing the days trek. Once off the trail the team became great hosts and worked to make our tea house experiences as good as possible. They had our bags by our rooms, served the cleansing end of day ginger tea, and served all of our meals. As the work was complete the team integrated into the group to share thoughts on the next day’s events, and more importantly to give us insight into Nepali life and culture, which we all found fascinating. The Third Rock team also demonstrated the ability to get helicopter access for people in our group that needed to get medical help. This was an impressive display of care for our group. Overall I felt that we were well looked after by an experienced team that you could count on to make this Himalayan trek a truly unique journey. Many thanks to the Third Rock team.
We just returned from Everest Base Camp trek. The mountains and scenery were truly spectacular, but it was the people from Third Rock that made this adventure even more special and memorable! Naba Angai and his team took care of all the details and logistics of this trek from the beginning till the end, and Naba was great in communicating and responding quickly to our needs. Our guides Rishi, Shieva and Mhek Raj were all super supportive, attentive, caring and experienced. They are absolutely the BEST in Class! Big praises to all our porters too, for making themselves available to help carry some of our daypacks on the long hard days. Our guides and porters were always happy, energetic and in good spirit, which helped motivate us to keep going even when our bodies felt tired and broken. A couple of days my energy level dropped so low due to the altitude and struggled to continue on, but Mhek Raj, Shieva and Rishi took turn to walk by my side and encouraged me to dig deep and keep going. They made us feel safe and cared for everyday. Without our guides’ support, I don’t think I would have made it to the Base Camp. I am forever thankful to them and will never forget them.
I heartily applaud the Third Rock guides and porters who assisted me on my failed trek on the EBC Trail. Those who were assigned the duty of working closely with me include Shiva, Sujan, Rishi, Mekh Raj, and Tilak. They are all men of a generous spirit, personable attention, and flawless commitment to their clients. They graciously shared their lives and hopes with me, as I did with them. They are not employees, they are ambassadors. These and other staff who gave themselves to carrying my wife's unbearable burdens have earned the same honors. I'm especially referring here to Buddhi. They are a credit to the people of Nepal. I will never see them again, for my grief will not permit me to return, but I will not forget them, and will pray for their families' prosperity.
Our lead guides, Shiva Bhatta and Rishi Rham Bhantana from Third Rock Adventures (https://g.co/kgs/tvA3oFK) have been amazing, supportive, personal, and their experience and knowledge, and wisdom leading the Everest Base Camp trek is unmatched as guides. Shiva was especially helpful as his expertise in area was first class. His fluency in English is fantastic. Rishi kept us all organized and on schedule. He is quieter than Shiva, but clearly was aware of everything going on throughout the trek. His sense of humor became very apparent when finally landed back in Kathmandu. Additionally, assistant guide Mekh Raj Tamang was excellent. His professional demeanor and work ethic were demonstrated daily. His kind and polite mannerisms from guide support to serving food to making sure we had everything we needed should be recognised. He helped me one particular day when we going taking a side trip (at my request) beyond the Recycling Trip stop (I can't remember the formal name) to hike to a better view of the surrounding mountains towering above. I really valued his assistance throughout this trip. Shiva and Rishi are able to juggle the amount of porters and assistant guides needed as our situation and needs changed accordingly, keeping a close eye on all of us. There is NO WAY we would have been able to to accomplish the trek without them. They were there to answer any questions I had (which was a lot) and kept the team informed daily. I want to personally thank my porter, Buddhi Tamang beginning on Day 11 of the trek. He was worth every penny and was extremely helpful well as physically fit, and had great stamina to help me with my pack daily as well as lending me a strong arm when needed, which was a lot of the time as the trek progressed with the harder terrain. I personally cried (unexpectedly) when extending my appreciation on the last day we were in Luckla, because we spent so much time together. We were able to get to know each other and communicate by whistles and hand signals. While Budhi's English skills were minimal, I still felt safe and secure being able to complete this trek with his inordinate amount of help. I would unequivocally use him again. Furthermore, I want to shout out to Tilak Tamang and Arjun Tamang. During the 2-mile trek from Gorak Shep to EBC, these two helped me across difficult boulders and terrain, and showed up now and then, to greet me with a smile and offer assistance if needed. Third Rock Adventures and their team of guides, assistant guides and porters are first class. I'm very grateful!
I went to Jomolhari in April 2024 with a group of friends. We started interacting with Naba via WhatsApp, for all of us to clarify trip details even before committing to the trip. Naba was very helpful in explaining the logistics of the trail including Visa requirements, Flight options, payment methods etc. Before starting the trip, we spent 2 days in Paro during which we were joined by Sangay (guide) and our accommodation and transportation was very well planned. During the hike, Sangay and his team looked after us really well. Upon learning the different tastes of the hikers, the kitchen staff did a wonderful job of cooking food that met and exceeded everyone's expectations. The tent accommodations were comfortable and team made all efforts to make sure that everyone was able to have a good night's sleep. As the trip progressed, Sangay interacted with the team on a daily basis to gather feedback and plan the next day. There were a few adjustments that had to be made to accommodate different requirements due to health concerns. Sangay displayed one of the best traits that a guide can have - Stay calm and offer options! He is also a great photographer and took gazillion pictures throughout the trip! Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend Naba, Sangay and his team. Make sure to ask questions early and have a solid understanding of what the trip entails so that there are no surprises!
I am Werner Berger and my "claim to fame" is probably best defined as being in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person in the world to have climbed the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, including Mt. Everest.
Little did I know my life was to change forever on my first trek into the Himalaya in 1992 at age 55. It was the beginning and just a matter time before I realized I could combine my leadership and climbing skills to create a program in which people could explore their own possibilities.
So, in 2010, I began leading Transformational Life Experiences, treks to Mt. Everest Base Camp and other high places.
One of the earliest keys to success is to find a company with the right mix of professionalism, support, and, of course, experience. I have used Naba Amgai and his teams on all my Nepal trekking adventures.
Naba's caring and climber support, is second to none. In my estimation, Third Rock Adventures is one of the very best in the business, in or outside of Nepal. They know the mountains. So you can relax, enjoy and transform.
