Welcome to the land of peace and serenity, Nepal. Upon landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be welcomed by representatives from Third Rock Adventures. Then you will transfer for a domestic flight to the 'city of lakes,' Pokhara.
Following the scenic 30 minutes flight enjoying the views of Mt. Macchapuchre, the guide will take you on a drive to Ulleri, which is further up the hills. Depending upon your arrival time, you will have some rest at Ulleri, then begin your trek towards Banthati.
Banthati is situated in the hills with views of Annapurna surrounding the village. After the first day's short trek, rest, interact with the locals, and enjoy a warm welcome dinner.
Overnight at Banthati.
On this day, you will take a long trek from Banthati to Tadapani. Begin the initial leg of the trek by enjoying the jungle walk up until Ghorepani, where you will stop for a break. You might witness some rare birds in the treelines. Ghorepani is one of the major hubs for tourists who stay the night in one of the many tea houses and lodges. The village is adorned with panoramic views of Mt. Machapuchre and Annapurna range up close.
From Ghorepani to Tadapani is a shorter hike that lasts about 2 to 3 hours. However, many tourists also prefer to hike up to Poon Hill, a majestic viewpoint that seems to be floating above the clouds. It offers excellent views of ranges such as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Mardi Himal. Poon Hill is a short distance from Ghorepani, so you can hike there if you are interested and time permits.
From there, trek through thick forests and many stone stairs to Tadapani, where you will witness some tea houses for your stay.
Overnight at Tadapani.
After breakfast, you leave for Chhomrong, which is a tiresome, yet adventurous trek. Chhomrong is further north of Tadapnai and offers up close and amazing views of the Mardi Himal, almost too good to be true. However, the trek takes you through some rugged trails and some with a lot of stone steps. However, you get a chance to explore the traditional houses, culture, and activities of the local communities along the way.
At Chhomrong, Himchuli Himalayas will also come into view along with the other ranges. This is also regarded as a significant point of the upper areas of the Annapurna Sanctuary. There are many lodges and tea houses to choose from.
Overnight at Chhomrong.
Make sure you wake early in the morning to enjoy the amazing sunrise views of the hills and mountains of the Annapurna Sanctuary. After breakfast, pack your belongings and begin another day's trek to Landurk. Descending from the thick treelines, you will reach Taglung, while the Annapurna South never leaves your sight. You might come across small streams and bridges to cross, which is exciting.
Eventually, you will reach Jhinu, known for its famous hot springs. Down in the middle of the jungle, you can stop to enjoy the hot spring and relax your muscles. After a while, continue your hike back to Landruk.
A little further away, Landruk comes into view, a small Gurung village that sits beside the Modi River.
Overnight at Landruk.
This is an exciting day as you will trek to the popular Australian Camp, so begin your day early. Covered with rhododendron and oak treelines, the trail is as beautiful as the views of the mountains surrounding it. There are a lot of ascents and descends on the way, which makes the trekking experience challenging but rewarding as well.
Eventually, after reaching the Australian Camp, you can sit in one of the long chairs to enjoy the panoramic views of the Annapurna massif closeup. Witness the sunset on the mountains as you head to your tea house.
Overnight in Australian Camp.
Wake up before dawn to experience one of the most amazing views you have ever witnessed. As the sun rises, you will get amazing views of the golden Himalayas like Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Himchuli, Annapurna II and IV, and Lamjung Himal. This is a scene worth the early morning wake. After breakfast, pack your belongings and trek through forests, pass suspension bridges, and then through paddy fields to Kande. A vehicle will be waiting to drive you to Pokhara city to enjoy the rest of the day.
After reaching your hotel and taking some rest, head out to enjoy a quick boating spree in the Phewa Lake and stop at the Island temple of Tal Barahi. Depending on your time, you can also explore the International Mountain Museum, check out the Seti gorge, and explore the city.
Late at night, enjoy in a local pub or club and taste mouth-watering Thakali cuisine.
Overnight stay in Pokhara.
