Kathmandu is a land of temples and a haven for local cuisine as it is a melting pot of different cultures in Newari city. On this day, we will be visiting different local eateries around the city which have gained massive popularity for authentic Nepali cuisine. We will try at least five different secret local foods.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the two-wheelers rushing around the alleyways, we will first visit the famous places for secret food, which is known to have been established generations ago, serving authentic Newari cuisine. Among the different items and places, you can try Chhoila- a spicy marinated buff or chicken meat, Bara - a Lentil pancake, alu, sekuwa (BBQ) and Yomari - steamed rice flour pockets filled with milk or molasses pudding.
Next, serving the best momos - a local dumpling made in Nepal which has acquired a fan following over the globe. While the fillings can be of different types, try the buff minced momos with authentic sauce for the best local experience.
Samosa is a fried cone-shaped pastry made with a savory filling of potato and spices that gives a burst of flavor. This is a favorite local delicacy among vegetarians.
To finally soothe your stomach and quench your thirst, we will head to next to get some cool lassi, a traditional sweet yogurt smoothie. Don't be surprised if you see a crowd in the shops selling Lassi, as they are the most popular local drink in the city.
After the satisfying and amazing experience with stuffed tummies, you will be dropped off at your hotel. If you wish to continue having these one-day tours, reach out to us to organize a similarly wonderful experience for you.
