Take this Pokhara Peace Pagoda Hike to the beautiful hilltop white stupa and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Pokhara valley. Pokhara, with its grand Himalayan views and vast lakes dotted with colorful boats, is a beautiful destination. Lying in the popular Annapurna region, the city is a favorite stopover for trekkers beginning or ending their Annapurna adventures. Set beside the tranquil Phewa Lake (a protected Ramsar Site), the snowy Machhapuchre (Fishtail Peak) and Hiunchuli cover its skyline. Pretty farming villages and jade green hills skirt its outer edges. Enjoy amazing views of Annapurna Massif and Pokhara Valley by taking this short Pokhara Peace Pagoda Hike to Peace Pagoda or Shanti Stupa. The impressive white pagoda, built by Japanese monks of the Nipponzan Myohoji clan, sits atop a ridge overlooking the Pokhara valley.
Before hiking up to the Peace Pagoda, first you take a boat across Phewa Lake. Once you reach the opposite bank, get down next and start hiking. Take the trail leading to the Peace Stupa. The path goes through a thick forest filled with wildflowers and pine trees. The trail is quite steep and you may need to watch your step. It may take an hour or two (depending on your pace) to reach the top. Once you reach the top, enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the entire valley. If the weather is clear, you can capture stunning views of Annapurna Massif, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchre, and Dhaulagiri in your camera.
Finally, head down to the lakeside after soaking in the views. End your Pokhara Peace Pagoda Hike by crossing the Phewa Lake on a boat and returning to your hotel.
