Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, a representative from Third Rock Adventures will welcome you. After completing airport formalities, you’ll drive to the heart of the capital city Thamel. Once you reach the hotel, you’ll get some to freshen up.
After resting for a while, you’ll attend a small trip meeting at our head office. Your tour guide will briefly explain the Kathmandu - Nagarkot Sunrise and Hiking tour itinerary. If you have any doubts, you can put them here. Later in the evening, you can explore the popular tourist hub of Thamel.

Pashupatinath Temple - the holiest temple of Hindus
Today, you’ll explore the Kathmandu Valley and visit UNESCO world heritage sites that hold the historical and cultural significance of the capital city from ancient times. Kathmandu is a beautiful capital city that blends cultural richness with crazy modern aspects.
You’ll begin the Kathmandu city tour with the Kathmandu Durbar Square visit at Basantapur. Within the inner complex of Durbar Square is an Old Royal Palace that has been turned into a museum referred to as the Hanuman Dhokha Palace. The outer complex consists of several ancient temples built in the Newari architectural style, including Jagannath, Mahendreswara, Shiva Parvati, Taleju, Kal Bhairav temple, Kumari Ghar (a house of only living Goddess of Kumari), etc.
Next, you will go to the awe-inspiring Boudhanath Stupa, a sacred pilgrimage site for Tibetan Buddhists. In Boudha’s streets, you can explore Tibetan food, beautiful Buddhist monasteries, and traditional Thanka paintings. Finally, you’ll visit the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath temple for evening aarti or Swayambhunath temple (also called as Monkey temple) for the panoramic sunset over the valley, hills, and mountains.

Early morning, your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel. After that, you’ll head towards Nagarkot for the glorious sunrise. It’ll take around an hour drive to reach Nagarkot. You’ll get stunned by the majestic sunrise view over the ranges of the Himalayas. After watching the early sunrise and creating a lifetime memory, you’ll start a day hike to Changunarayan temple.
At first, you’ll walk downhill to Telkot (Bhaktapur) for an hour. Then the trail goes through picturesque, terraced fields of seasonal plants. Then after a couple of hours, you’ll reach Changu Narayan temple, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a two-story pagoda-style temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and surrounded by ancient carvings and statues. After completing your hiking tour, you’ll get back to Kathmandu. Get refreshed and explore the Thamel area.

Note: There is an option for a day hike to Dhulikhel through green forests and lush vegetation. You’ll also get stunning views of the Himalayas. You can end this easy hike at Nala or Banepa, which makes it 1 hour shorter. So, this short hiking trail is wonderful for catching unique landscapes, mountain views, and village life. You can consult with the tour guide. He will set the best itinerary based on your preferences.
