Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning. Enjoy a light breakfast, pack light with necessary hiking gear and be ready for this exciting short hike to Panauti and Namobuddha, lying on the city's southeastern outskirts. It is only 32km away from the busy roads of Kathmandu to Panauti. There are many important religious and cultural sites you will visit on this day.
If your visit is during the month of May-June, you will be lucky to observe the most famous Panuati Jatra here. From Panauti, you will start hiking to Namobuddha. For the first few kilometers, you will be walking through uneven and rough roads. The hiking route takes you through a series of ups and downs but the views are amazing for sure.
After hiking for some time, you will reach a place called Lapsibot, from where you will take an upward route. The sight of green hills and terraced fields will definitely captivate you.
After a long ascent, you arrive at Namobuddha. Here, you will visit and pay homage to the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Gumba (monastery), a sacred Tibetan monastery. This monastery is home to more than 250 monks and includes a monastic college. The view from there is stunning. You can stay overnight at the monastery's guesthouse or a hotel but you will have to return back to Kathmandu the very same day.
