Situated at an altitude of 2,195 meters, Nagarkot is famous for the breathtaking views of the Himalayas and spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas.
Sankhu is a beautiful Newari town and is home to Bajrayogini temple. At an altitude of 1,550 meters is another beautiful place this hike takes you to: Dhulikhel. Surrounded by picturesque Hills, Dhulikhel is also popular for its stunning views of the Himalayas.
Sankhu, Nagarkot, and Dhulikhel Hike begins with a scenic drive to Sankhu. During this tour, you can admire the panoramic view of mountains including Langtang, Ganesh, Everest, Annapurna range, Manaslu and surrounding peaks. The next day, you'll wake up early in the morning, at 4 am, and embark on a short hike to Nagarkot viewpoint to enjoy the stunning sunrise from there. You will have a delicious breakfast at Nagarkot and start a short hike to Dhulikhel.

Today, we will start the day with a short drive to Sankhu by private vehicle and start the hike to Nagarkot. The distance between Kathmandu and Sankhu is around 15km and it is an hour's drive away from Kathmandu. The walk from Sankhu to Nagarkot is short yet rewarding. The trail is easy and entails a gradual climb after an hour of hiking. The route passes through some traditional villages like Chisapani and Mulkharka.
This short hike is a great way to enjoy the views of the Himalayas, cultural richness and catch a glimpse into the local lifestyle. Make sure to take breaks and drink water. Enjoy walking on the tree-lined single track; after some time, you will reach your destination for the day.
Overnight in Nagarkot
You will begin the day with a short drive from your hotel at around 4:30 am to admire mesmerizing sunrise from Nagarkot viewpoint. Nagarkot is a popular hill station in Nepal situated at an altitude of 2,175m. After breakfast, you will hike to Dhulikhel.
The hike from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel is moderate, and it really lets you relax and enjoy the moment with beautiful landscapes on the horizon. You will be passing through dense pine forests and even rhododendron trees, the national flower of Nepal. You will enjoy lunch in Dhulikhel and depart from Dhulikhel and head back to Kathmandu after a day well spent.
