Kathmandu, March 27
As per the latest update by Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipality, trekkers in the Everest region can trek without a guide. However, it is recommended to trek with a guide for safety and an enriched trekking experience.
The authority issued the latest information on its official Facebook Page. Trekkers need to buy the Trek Card, pay the national park fee, and enjoy trekking in the region.
The Trek Card is a mandatory permit that needs to be obtained by all trekkers. This card is a means of identification for trekkers and is required for safety and security purposes. In the Phakding region, trekkers are required to purchase a trekking card from the permit office, and it needs to be checked at every checkpoint along the way.
Trekkers must carry this card with them at all times during the trek, and it needs to be produced at every checkpoint along the way. The checkpoint officials will check the card and verify that the trekker is authorized to trek in the region. They will also record the trekker's details in their records to ensure that they are accounted for and that everyone is safe. The fee for the card is Rs.2000 per person.
Trekkers must also obtain the National Park fee at Monjo. The National Park fee is a mandatory fee that every trekker must pay before entering the park, and it costs Rs. 3000 per trekker. The National Park fee is used to maintain the park, including the trails, bridges, and other infrastructure. It is also used to conserve wildlife and their habitats in the park. The fee helps to fund the park's conservation efforts and ensure that it remains a protected area for generations to come.
Trekkers are required to show their trekking permit and pay the fee before entering the park. The checkpoint officials will verify the permit and record the trekker's details in their records. Additionally, the fee is valid only for the Sagarmatha National Park and cannot be used for any other park or region.
