Overnight in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu is a warm and friendly city. We will take a guided tour of the four major points of touristic interest today. All these spots are listed in the UNESCO heritage sites’ list. First of all we will visit the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, which holds the palaces of the ancient kings who ruled over the then Kathmandu Kingdom. The sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus all over the world. The famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) got its name owing to the large number of monkeys in the temple area, it is also a good viewpoint to see the city below. Finally we visit a Buddhists shrine (Boudhanath) which is one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world.

Today we will start early, a 3-hour drive will take you to the starting point of your rafting adventure, Charaudi (1968.48ft). The crew prepares the rafts, after which all head towards the river for safety talk and lessons on how to use paddles. Their choppy waters of the Trishuli River will have you screaming in excitement. There are various rapids that have funny names – Upset, Ladies’ Delight, S Bend, etc.Two hours down the river is a beach with strange-shaped boulders that resemble sculptures and this is the lunch spot. Around noon time your hunger pangs might be getting stronger after all that paddling. An outdoor lunch would be served on the banks which is always an enchanting experience. It also gives everyone a break from paddling and time to take in the scenery. Around late afternoon we head onwards towards Pokhara, the “City of Lakes.” In the evening you can stroll around the Lakeside area, which is lined with restaurants and bars.
Overnight in Pokhara
In the morning, we drive to Nayapul and start the trek. We pass through sub-tropical valley forests, sometimes on the carved trail on the side of the cliff. After lunch, we cross the Modi Khola (river) via a suspension bridge to the village of Tikhedhunga. The Ulleri Hill with thousands of steps and boulders that continually go upward would really prove a test of our stamina. We reach Ulleri by late afternoon. Overnight in Teahouse.
We make our ascent to the Ghorepani village. The name Ghorepani in Nepali means horse-water owing to its role as an important campsite for traders (who used to travel on horseback) before it became a trekker's stop. Ghorepani is an interesting place with small shops and stalls for selling local products and craft. The town has two parts: one in a saddle and the other a few hundred feet lower. We stop at the higher part of the Ghorepani village that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains including Annapurna South and Nilgiri mountains. Since Ghorepani lies quite higher than our previous stop, we begin to feel the chilly weather especially in the evenings.
Overnight in Ghorepani.
Today will be a special day because we conquer Poon Hill- an icon of Annapurna region. To catch the magnificent splendor of sunrise over the Himalayas, we make an early morning climb along the steep trail to the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3200mtrs). Poon Hill (3,210m/10,529ft) is a great viewpoint from where we will be able to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Mustang part and Pokhara valleys including the closest views of more than 20 highest mountains including the close-up views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The snowy peaks of the high mountains loom above and around us glowing in the morning light. After taking photos and having some coffee or tea or hot chocolate, we return back to Gorepani. Upon breakfast, we head east and climb a nearby ridge. We descend through rhododendron forest, pass by spectacular waterfalls along the way and reach Tadapani.
Overnight in Tadapani.
From Tadapani, we make a steep descent through the dense and dark forest. This part of the trek will be through a thick forest of old rhododendron trees. When the rhododendron trees are in bloom, these forests actually turn into gardens of dazzlingly beautiful flowers, mostly red, when seen from the air or from far. By afternoon, depending upon the season of travel, we will be pleasantly surprised by the sight of some cherry blossoms in bloom on the slopes, on the other side of the ravine. After trekking some more minutes, we enter the village of Ghandruk, a slope settlement with stone houses mostly inhabited by the Gurung people. Along with enjoying the stunningly close-up towering views of Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiuchuli mountains, we also acquaint ourselves with the simple but rich cultural traditions of the Gurung people at the Gurung Museum in Ghandruk. We will continue to trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul then drive back to Pokhara.
Overnight in Pokhara

During the flight you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the whole Pokhara valley, including the Phewa Lake, and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After your flying adventure, drive back to your hotel and prepare for a drive to Chitwan.
Take a scenic drive in between valleys and riversides from Pokhara to Chitwan. Watch the world go by in a blur as you rumble down 95 miles towards Chitwan, it takes about 4-5 hours to reach there, so plug your ears to some good music. Sauraha is a tourist hub, take some time out and relax, you will need it after the long drive. You can laze around the river bank with a bottle of chilled beer till sundown.

While tipping is not mandatory it is a nice way of showing your appreciation to the people who have helped you enrich your holiday experience. It all depends on how far you are pleased and satisfied with their services. There is no fixed amount, but many of our clients offer 8-10 percent of the total tour price as tips.
We would recommend all our clients to purchase travel insurance before booking any of our treks. Trust us you will have a pleasant holiday knowing that you have a good insurance cover. In the event of any sickness or injury while trekking in the mountains, the cost of emergency treatment and evacuation will be considerable. Therefore, traveling with an insurance cover is strongly recommended for everyone who signs up for any of our trips. But be careful while choosing a policy as some policies make special exceptions for adventure travel.
Do read the fine print. Before buying insurance make sure your insurance company is aware of your travel itinerary and is agreeable to cover all activities being undertaken during the trip. Such as if you are planning to trek or climb (mountaineering expedition) in the Himalayas, your insurance must cover emergency air ambulance/helicopter rescue including medical expenses. For a group tour in an urban area, insurance cover of air ambulance or helicopter rescue is not mandatory. While booking a trip with us you need to send us a copy of your insurance policy (e.g. your insurance certificate) or carry it with you while you come for the trip.
No, you cannot get insurance in Nepal. Please also note that Third Rock Adventures does not arrange or sell insurance.
We carry a first-aid box with us while trekking. But if you want you can carry along some essential medicines like ibuprofen, codeine, paracetamol, lozenges, anti-diarrhea tablets and diamox for AMS.
Most of the guides in our adventure company come from the mountainous areas. They are carefully selected on the basis of their experience, leadership skills and personal aptitude. We provide guides that are experienced and fluent in English. With the objective of sustaining local communities, we employ guides from different ethnic backgrounds who have adequate knowledge about the culture, ecosystem, flora and fauna, geography and history of Nepal.
Our guides have the required government license to guide tourists. They have all gone through intensive training programs like wilderness first aid, trekking guide training, eco training workshop and rock climbing, ice climbing and mountaineering, which are certified and approved by the government of Nepal.
You can store it at your hotel (most hotels in Kathmandu have storage facilities) or you can leave it at our office.
Teahouse trekking is one of the most popular ways of trekking in Nepal. Teahouse trekking has almost replaced old style camping treks in Nepal along the popular trekking routes of Annapurna and Everest regions. Teahouse Trek involves resting or stopping at teahouses or lodges scattered along the trail for the night. The teahouses are locally owned and they provide accommodation and food. While the standard of teahouses varies, most of these establishments usually offer basic services - small rooms (usually on a twin sharing basis with comfortable beds), shared washroom, a heated communal dining area and a menu with a range of dishes. Some may offer wi-fi and hot shower. As these teahouses are located in remote locations, one should not expect the service of a city hotel while staying in one. But in popular trails like Everest Base Camp trail and Annapurna Base Camp trail one can expect luxury standard accommodations too.
