Kathmandu, January 11

Nepal Airlines issued a notice on Sunday regarding the compulsion of Covid negative report or vaccine certificate for all travelers. All travelers must produce Covid-19 negative test certificate to enter Nepal through international airport.

This new provision is mandated addressing the growing of Covid-19 cases. Several countries are facing and responding to the dire situation of Covid cases. Several countries have resumed the previous pre-departure tests, arrival tests, and travel restrictions and Nepal recently joined this bandwagon.

According to Ganesh Kumar Ghimire, joint spokesperson at Nepal Airline, the decision on mandatory Covid-19 international certificate or PCR negative report was made on December 23, 2022.

It was back in March 2022 that Nepal relaxed all restrictions all restrictions and requirements of Covid-19 and opened its door to international tourists in a bid to boost tourism industry.

Visitors traveling into Nepal must bring official proof of COVID Vaccination with QR code or PCR negative report taken 72 hours prior to boarding. For children below 5 years do not require proof of vaccination or PCR report.

As for now, travelers are not required to quarantine themselves, but must mandatorily present their vaccination certifcate or a negative test result upon arrival in Nepal.

Nepal has become the first country in the world to make it mandatory for all tourists to present a negative COVID-19 report or vaccination certificate. The report must be issued within 72 hours of arrival and tourists must also present a valid passport. Nepal is expected to reopen for tourism on September 17. I believe this article is incorrect in a few ways. First, I'm not sure if Nepal is the first country to require a negative COVID test or vaccine certificate, but many countries are starting to require this. Second, the negative COVID test must be within 72 *hours* of arrival, not days. I do have a few questions as a reader. What type of COVID test is accepted? Are there any exceptions to this rule? For example, what if someone is unable to get a test or vaccine before their trip?

As per the updated rules ( dated March 12, 2023), all travelers must bring a covid-19 negative test certificate with a QR code or PCR negative report taken 72 hours prior to boarding. And in case someone is unable to get a test or vaccine before the trip, you will probably not be able to enter Nepal.

Is that a requirement for U. S. citizens who are fully vaccinated? Also, how do I get an international Covid vaccination certificate? does the U.S. CDC Covid card work for entry into Nepal?
