In the evening, taking a short 1-hour drive, you will reach Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan.
Overnight stay in Thimphu.
Waking up early in the morning means a lot to do, and the initial leg begins with a hike. Leaving your belongings in the hotel, you will hike to Dodeydra Monastery, located on the northwestern flank of Thimphu. The initial phase of the hike is challenging because of the steep upward walk. However, it gets easier with each step ahead. As you reach higher on the cliff, you will witness the most majestic views of the valley underneath and the verdant green hills.
At the top of the beautiful hill is the monastery, which was built in 1779 and consisted of teachings of Buddha inside rocks. Mostly there are statues and murals of different forms of Buddha. You might witness student monks in the area. After taking enough pictures and relaxing, you will head back to the starting point and then be driven to your hotel.
In the afternoon, the guide will take you on a sightseeing adventure around the city. You will visit the Memorial Chorten built in memory of Bhutan's third King. Then visit the Takin Reserve and even the famous Buddha Statue. If time persists, you can also visit Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory for an insightful tour and the amazing Tashichho Dzong, which currently houses the Thorne room and the offices of the King. In the evening, drive back to Paro.
Overnight stay in Paro.
This is one of the tour's most exciting days as you will visit the most famous sight in Bhutan, Tiger's Nest Monastery, also known as Paro Taktsang. The monastery is situated on a cliff at a height of 3180m. You will be driven to the starting point of the hike. Following, you will initially take a hike with an ascend of 900m from the floor. The trail, although easy, can get challenging due to steep ascents. After nearly 4 hours, you will reach the monastery from where the valley below looks marvelous. Peace and serenity cover the air, along with chimes of prayer wheels and flags flapping.
As per the legends, the Guru Rimpoche had landed in the cave of Thulo Phuk on his Tiger's back and meditated in the Pel Phuk cave. Hence, the monastery has been built in the interconnection and is thus a pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
After exploring the paintings, landmarks, prayer wheel, and temples, take a hike back to Paro and rest in your hotel.
