On the way to Thimphu, you will view Tamchhog Lhakhang, a small private temple and traditional iron suspension bridge. If time permits, you may stop here and snap some photos. After checking into the hotel, you will visit the ancient landmark National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the 3rd king of Bhutan.
Later, you will visit one of the most significant religious buildings in Thimphu, Taschichho Dzong. This fascinating Goemba is perched high up on a cliff about 900 meters above the Paro Valley. Thus from the top, you will get a spellbound view of the Himalayan range and Paro valley. During the hike, you will have a pleasant walk through the pine forests. It will take around 6 hours of roundtrip, both hiking up and down.
Apart from the majestic view, it is also one of Bhutan's most iconic religious sites. It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, "Second Buddha" of Bhutan, have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days, and three hours. Eventually, you will see the famous cave where Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) has meditated in the 8th century. Swayambhunath Temple Located atop a hill west of Kathmandu city, the complex has been in use since the 5th century A.D.
