Born and raised in Jauvari, Gorkha, Nepal, Sujit Babu Shrestha came to China at the age of 18 to pursue an undergraduate degree. After graduating, he launched his career in the retail sector in China and has since established himself as a successful entrepreneur.
Sujit now runs a chain of supermarkets across Xizang, China, drawing on his extensive experience working with leading international retailers from the United States, Europe and Asia. His deep knowledge of the Chinese market, people and culture, gained over three decades of living in the country, gives him a unique perspective. Sujit is fluent in Chinese, both spoken and written.
Married to a Chinese woman, Xiumei YE, from Guangdong province, Sujit is the proud father of two daughters. He is one of the first foreigners to have obtained a Chinese green card, a testament to his strong ties to the country.
Sujit has traveled extensively throughout China and has been actively promoting Nepal among the Chinese people. He has built a vast network of connections with Chinese entrepreneurs and investors, and has been able to attract Chinese investment into Nepal.
