Pema Sonam, a friendly and energetic trekking guide with more than a decade of experience, is from the nomadic village of Sakteng in the east bordering Tibet and Tawang in India. He was trained and certified by the Tourism Council of Bhutan in 2007. Pema has been serving our company since 2015. He has led many groups through the beautiful terrains of Bhutan. He has trekked many times on the popular trekking routes of Bhutan, from easy treks to the most challenging treks. He has done all popular treks like Druk Path Trek, Jomolhari Trek, Soi Yaksa Trek, Snowman Trek, and Merak Sakteng Trek and Tour. He is a soft-spoken man, and his friendly demeanor is truly praiseworthy. He is well-recognized in the tourism industry of Bhutan and is among the popular trekking guides in Bhutan.

Great Team

The Jhomolhari trek has been one of the most organized adventure I have been on and I am grateful to Third Rock for this. The Bhutanese guide Pema was fantastic and they anticipated all the needs of the group. The hiking was well paced and everything was wellmanaged. The whole Bhutanese team worked very cohesively together and it impressed us. Even the food was great.

Laya Trek for 17 Days

Everything was great. We had an exciting adventure wth Third Rock. Pema Sonam was our guide for this trek and he is a superb person. We also had 10 days of camping on the Laya Gasa trek. The food on trek was excellent. Our local guide who is very knowledgeable worked hard and kept us safe. Pema always wants his clients to have safe, enjoyable and memorable trips. My trek this year was my fourth one with Third Rock Adventures, and I have been fortunate that Pema actually led two of my trips. I highly recommend Pema for any adventure to the land of Bhutan.
